We handle your personal data in accordance with the Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), other applicabla legislation and government regulations. This information about our processing of personal data is continuously revised and all updates are announced on this website.

We think privacy is very important

You trust us with a lot of information, when using our services or interacting with us. We use information to not only enable us to provide you services, but also continuously improve and provide services tailored to your needs.

We want to be transparent

We believe in being clear and open about how we collect and use data related to you. In the spirit of transparency, you will find detailed information in this privacy notice about how and when we use your personal data.

We protect your information

When we talk about personal data, it is any information directly or indirectly related to you. We use our best effort to ensure your privacy with good information management and careful processing of personal data. We handle personal data in accordance with governmental privacy regulations, other appolicable laws and this privacy notice. We regularly review this policy and place any updates on this page.

What personal data will be stored in this app?

  • VIN (Vehicle identification Number), which is the equivalent of the car's public social security numer, in order to connect your insurance to your vehicle.
  • User data (given we have your separate consent), which enables us to improve and optimize the performance of our digital services. For example, there may be long loading times, error messages, etc. When we compile the statistics, it is always done at an aggregate level, which means that your personal data can never be identified.

Can I stop sharing my personal data whenever I want to?

Yes of course.

To stop sharing your data go to "Settings" and tap "Disconnect".

Will you be able to track the geographic location of my car?

No geographic data is sent, stored or tracked from this app. If Roadside assistance is requested by pressing Connect or SOS buttons in the car, geographic data is sent from the car to the Roadshide assistance company.

Will you receive data regarding my driving patterns via the car app?

No, nor what could possibly have caused a damage/collision to the car.

Will you collect more data points than previous stated about me?

When we introduce new services in the app, we will ask for your consent for each new service. You can always choose to not accept or withdraw a previously given consent.

Will my premium or bonus be affected by my generated data?

No, nothing you share affects the pricing or the bonus of your insurance.

What legal grounds do you have for storing my data?

Depending on the purpose and nature of the information, your personal data is processed on the basis of one or more legal grounds. In this case, you have given us your consent for your personal data to be processed for the use of our InCar App. In such a case, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. However, the revocation of the consent will not affect the legality of the treatment based on the consent, before this is revoked. Please note that a revocation of consent may affect the right to insurance or compensation.

Data storing and security

We ensure your privacy with good information management and careful processing of personal data. We keep your personal data as long as necessary, to fulfil the purposes outlined in this privacy notice unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

The retention periode of your personal data is dependent on the law for the particular type of potentioal claim, accounting law requirements and other factors. If holding your personal data is not mandatory for us, you can request us to delete the data. Unnecessary or irrelevant personal data is deleted or made anonymous.

We always take appropriate technical, physical, legal and organizational measures, which are consistent with applicable privacy and data security laws. Any service providers acting as data processors are selected carefully and are required to use appropriate measures to protect the confidentiality and security of your personal data.

For example, when required from a security perspective, before storing personally identifiable information (such as social security numbers or vehicle registration numbers), we anonymize or pseudonymize the information so that individual persons cannot be identified solely based on the stored information.

Will you share my data with third party?

What about surveys?

Yes, in order to create a valuable and improved user experience, your feedback is valuable to us. You might be contacted to share this with us, but you can always say no.

For how long will you store my data?

We will save your data as long as you continue to be the registered owner of the car. In the event of a change of ownership or at your request, we delete the data we have stored.

What to do if I want to know what data you have stored about me?

You can always contact e2e@if.no to receive information about personal data we currently have stored on you.

If I want to delete my user generated data, also known as "The right to be forgotten", how do I procced?

There are two different ways of doing this;

  1. Go to "Settings" in the app and select "Disconnect".

We always ensure your identity before you have access to your informations and your information may therefore be sent by registered letter. You have the right to request correction of such information as you consider to be incorrect and you also have the right to request deletion of your personal data if there is no legal basis for our handling. As a general rule, insurance companies need to save insurance-related information for a long time to fulfil the purpose for which they are processed and the longer time that can be caused by applicable law, such as applicable limitation periods and requirements under insurance business, pen washing, accounting or accounting law. You may also, under certain condiotions request that the processing of your personal data be restricted.

Please note that your information may be exempt from the right to delete under applicable law, for example, when your information must be stored as a result of applicable limitation periods or in accordance with tha requirements of the Insurance Business, Accounting or Accounting Act. At your request, a copy of the information you have provided to us may be transferred by us directly to another company if technically possible. You also have the right to contact us with an objection and have the processing of your personal data tried.

If is under the supervision of the Privacy Protection Authority (IMY) and you have the right to contact them directly with complaints, but we encourage you to contact us in the first instance to handle your complaints.

Will my data be transferred to data bases outside the EU?

No, your personal data is primarily stored within territory of European Union and European Economic Area. Due to the global nature of our business and to technological solutions, for the purpose set out above, in certain cases we may transfer personal data to parties located in other countries.

For example, we may transfer personal data to a data processor providing online cloud services located in United States. Any such transfer is performed according to the applicable privacy rules for such international data transfers.
